Managing Directors Message

Dear Business Partners,
dic-ceo-1The year gone by has been an eventful one for Dubai Internet City. Our community has grown with several new business partners coming on board including LinkedIn and Facebook to name a few. We have also been working with different stakeholders to enhance the enabling environment for tech entrepreneurship.

As you may have noticed, many of our activities towards the latter part of last year were geared towards supporting entrepreneurship and SMEs and we intend to continue in this direction and intensify our efforts. Among our new initiatives last year, ‘Grow you business – Regional SME Competition and Awards’ stands out for its emphasis on bringing small and medium businesses into the global spotlight and supporting their growth. One of the key areas of focus for Dubai Internet City in 2013 is entrepreneurship development and as part of this, we will work on further enhancing the startup ecosystem, which is necessary for turning innovative ideas into successful businesses.

Entrepreneurship is a dominant factor in driving innovation, generating jobs and achieving overall economic growth and through our focused approach we aim to make a significant contribution, especially within the SME sector. Starting this year, the 'Majid Bin Mohammed Innovation Centre in5' will also take on a more prominent role in promoting technological innovation and entrepreneurship in the UAE.

I wish you all a very successful year ahead and look forward to our community delivering excellence in all areas. Together, there is a lot we can do to support entrepreneurship and our combined efforts will help in positioning the UAE as an attractive destination for startups.

Best regards,

Malek Al Malek,
Managing Director,
Dubai Internet City and Dubai Outsource Zone
